    @shadows9209 THE HULKA HELICOPTER!=D and the one he uses here i believe is the one casey brohard from blue devils does. His is more of a triplet feel claw, which i don’t attempt cause i’m just not a fan. I’m more so a Cavies person myself so i go for the original claw the Casey Claw which was invented by Mark Casey of The Cavaliers between91-93? i know they first used it in 94 and again in 95 with none other then Scott “Hulka” McCoy=D

    @AziZune Got it. I think the actual name is the Casey Claw or something like that, no idea, DCI started it. This one’s inverted. In the original, you just hold the right stick about in the center, up like you’re backsticking it, then spin it back and forth, alternating hitting the butt and tip. Once you practice and get it up to speed it can be fast enough to turn it into a triplet or double stroke roll.

    The helicopter, FYI, is a claw with both hands. Bitch to do it, but it looks ridiculous.

    @mikey16piet I can’t really tell exactly, it might be the claw (at least that’s what i’ve been told that it’s called), which is kind of hard to explain. If it is the claw, then you basically have to flick spin your wrist while pushing your arm out slightly out to get a rotation, but you have to grip up on the stick. If you do it slowly, it will most likely end up sounding like a flam, but you can speed it up and put it into a roll. It also might be the helicopter, which i cant really explain.

    The snare’s arm flare visual at 1:48 .. How is it done? Will anyone be kind enough to explain to me. It looks really cool, and i’d like to know how.

    @slipchikin One word for ya……..NECK

    12. Nov, 2010

    @slipchikin no traditional style was created BECAUSE of tilted snares. snares were traditionally played with a strap instead of a rig, so they were tilted and drummers adjusted their grip to what we call “traditional style” today.

    Their both really great percussionist. I’m actually looking forward to performing something like this at my schools talent show with a fellow drummer of mine.
